Doesn't sound like a tech topic? Well, it is or better should be an issue for all of us using Microsoft Windows on our computer. Once you have internet access, you need to spend some thoughts on security. Now, the internet isn't evil or something, but like any other place it has its not-so-nice neighbourhoods. Imagine you'd drive through one of these, would you leave your car's windows wide open? Certainly not, and it's similar with the Windows on your computer.
Now don't be scared every time you go online, there's no need. Just follow some simple steps to get your windows closed.
The main and most important thing is - keep it up to date. Like every other software, Windows isn't perfect, and Microsoft keeps on shelling out Updates every month to fix the latest security issues. Updating is easy and can run automatically, just go to the security center in control panel and turn on "automatic updates". Now, Windows will routinely check for new updates from the Microsoft servers and download and install them on its own. All you'll ever see is a nag message that comes up after a completed update, asking you to restart your computer.
Hint: that works properly only with versions of Windows 2000 or XP, so if you're still using 95 or 98, you should consider getting a newer one, Microsoft doesn't support these anymore.
That's it for today folks, watch out for more posts on "How to keep your Windows closed".

Computers are incredibly fast, accurate and stupid. Human beings are incredibly slow, inaccurate and brilliant. Together they are powerful beyond imagination. - Albert Einstein

Ah, thanks. That was the only board I'm feeling I can contribute something. I'll enjoy reading the other stuff, though, but don't feel like I can add something of value Well, so I'll just stick to this one
