Wedding Beauty Tips

For your wedding, you want to look good. Really good. And the right application of make-up will get you there. The wrong application can undermine your appearance in person and in pictures.

A little stronger make-up look is good for brides, as if you were going to a black tie dinner. If you use neutral lipstick, add a little color to make your lips special. If you normally wear no make-up, add a little eye-liner and a white shimmer shadow to look special. Be comfortable with yourself. But remember, you will look different in photos than you will in person. It's a good idea to consult your wedding photographer and maybe even take some sample photos several weeks before the wedding.

The amount of make-up you wear depends on how polished you want to look. Foundation is just to even out the skin. It's important that your face is not a different color from your arms and neck. Put a little foundation on the side of your face. If it disappears, it's the right color. If the foundation exactly matches your face, there is no need to blend it onto your neck. It will just stain your clothes. If you wish, you can use it just around your nose and under your eyes with a slightly lighter tone of concealer. To cover blemishes or redness, use a darker concealer that exactly matches your foundation. Apply it with a brush or your little finger and gently blend it in before powdering.

Always use a moisturizer. There are oil-free moisturizers for oily skin. Mascara should be waterproof. Apply two to three coats without clumping.

For summer brides who worry about perspiring, try an oil control gel for the nose and chin and an oil-free foundation. A powder puff keeps sweat and oil away. All brides should keep powder handy to maintain a matte finish on the face for photos.

About a month before the wedding, you can experiment carefully with self-tanning lotions. If you get it wrong, it will be gone by the wedding. While sun exposure will eventually cause your skin to wrinkle, a little bit of sun before the wedding is great.

Try facials at least two weeks to a month before the wedding. If you are going to change your make-up, start trial runs a month before. You can have a good free lesson at a salon counter in applying make-up.

Keep your skin hydrated by drinking adequate water. Cut back on coffee and other diuretics. Don't drink soda at all--it increases underskin bloat by causing water to accumulate between cells instead of in them.

Try a body massage to get rid of tension. If your schedule is causing you stress before your wedding, a massage session can help dramatically.
